LiteRec Privacy Policy Effective date: October 12, 2026
LiteRec is provided by Qingdao Beijiao Information Technology Co., Ltd. This policy describes LiteRec for macOS, version 1.2.4, distributed through the Mac App Store.
Recordings
LiteRec captures the screen area you select and, if enabled, sound playing on your Mac. Recordings are saved in a local folder you choose. Screen recording itself does not upload media. The optional cloud transcription feature sends audio to the provider you choose, only after you confirm each upload; see below. If you choose a folder synchronized by another service, that service may upload your files under its own settings and privacy policy.
Local transcription and optional model downloads
Local transcription and speaker labeling run on your Mac using downloaded models. The audio and resulting transcript are not sent to the developer or a transcription provider in local mode. Model downloads connect directly to Hugging Face; that hosting service receives ordinary network request information such as your IP address. Once installed, the models can be used offline. You may also import a compatible local model folder.
Transcripts, edits, speaker names and bookmarks for source files are stored in the application support folder on your Mac. Speaker labels group voices within a recording; LiteRec does not build an identity database or retain voice embeddings after processing. Original media is not copied into the transcript library.
Optional cloud transcription
If you enable cloud processing, the audio track is extracted and sent directly to the API endpoint you configure. LiteRec shows the destination and requests confirmation before each upload. OpenAI, Groq, SiliconFlow, or a custom compatible provider processes this data under its own terms, retention settings and privacy policy. We do not receive the audio, transcripts or API key. Your provider may charge your own API account. Temporary extracted audio is removed when the task ends.
API keys are saved in macOS Keychain, separately for each configured endpoint, and are not included in transcript exports or analytics. You can remove a saved key by leaving the key field empty and saving the configuration. Cloud request credentials are not logged. Review the provider's policy before uploading private material.
When you use cloud transcription, your provider can associate requests with your own API account and may retain request usage and diagnostic information for billing, service measurement, reliability and abuse prevention. Depending on its policy and your account settings, the provider may also retain uploaded audio or transcription results. These third-party practices are reflected in the App Store privacy label; they do not apply to offline local transcription. Consult OpenAI data controls, Groq data controls or SiliconFlow privacy policy, or the policy for your custom provider.
Permissions and local settings
macOS controls access to screen recording and system audio. LiteRec also uses the folder access you grant through the system folder picker. It stores recording preferences, your selected language, and a permission bookmark for your chosen folder locally on your Mac. This version does not access your microphone or camera.
App Store purchases
Apple processes your payment. LiteRec uses Apple's StoreKit service to check signed app purchase information. Verification may require a connection to Apple or an Apple Account authentication prompt. LiteRec does not receive your payment card details or Apple Account password, and does not send purchase information to a developer-operated server. Apple's services are governed by Apple's privacy policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
Analytics and advertising
LiteRec includes no advertising, third-party analytics, or cross-app tracking. It does not require a LiteRec account. The app does not collect data for the developer.
Support
If you voluntarily email vincent@nordkapp.cn, we receive your email address and the information you include. We use this correspondence to respond to your request. Please avoid sending private recordings or sensitive information unless needed for support. You may email us to request deletion of support correspondence, subject to applicable retention obligations.
Your control
You can delete recordings in Finder, change the save folder, revoke screen recording access in System Settings, remove downloaded models from Local models, and move history entries to Recently Deleted in LiteRec (recoverable). Original media is not deleted by removing a history entry. To permanently remove local transcript backups, you can delete their JSON files from the LiteRec application-support folder. Exported transcripts are ordinary files under your control. Recordings in folders outside the application container may remain after uninstalling the app.
Changes and contact
We will update this policy if LiteRec's data practices change. Questions: vincent@nordkapp.cn.
